How much would one expect to pay for a single hectare of land in the boonies in Ecuador?

I just did a quick search of different properties online. And I found prices from $1,000 to $30,000 (USD) per hectare. Of course much has to do with which part of the country you buy (if you're near a touristy area the prices seem to go up). And if you were to be in Ecuador looking to buy from the owners and not real estate agents you would probably find plenty for much less that a $1,000.
