Why will my speakers not work in my web browser?

why don't you try opening up your sound mixer? all you have to do is click on the sound icon on the explorer bar and open the mixer option. then it usually shows what program you have open, look at the program with the internet program your using. sometimes the volume might be all the way down for that program or just muted. oh the description is for windows vista but I'm sure it'll work for xp users as well.
