Writers, do you prefer writing in solitude?

do you mind people constantly around you? eating, talking, and looking at your screen? I'm asking the first half of this question because I have no privacy and am wondering if anyone goes through the same thing... and how to deal with it. On the second half, are you secretive with your stories? Do you show anyone or do you keep them for yourself? I'm more of the secretive type, which is why I get angry about my lack of privacy. I have to be awake at 1am-4am in order to have privacy to write.
