Why can't diabetics take insulin as a pill?

The digestive process would break down the pill and render the insulin useless, my friend, so you'd get no benefit from it. There is ongoing research into finding a way that this might be made possible, but it's been going on for at least 30+ years and they seem little closer to attaining it.
