HELP! Major fear of shots, I need some tips!?

Long story short bad experiences and I have a fear of even the smallest medical needle, i have for ages now. I have a MAJOR fear of shots where I won't eat for 24 hours until its done because if I even so much as look at the needle I literally just want to hurl it makes me that queasy. I'm getting a cortisone shot in my wrist tomorrow to help with my carpel tunnel and my friend sent me a video without telling me that it was OF THE PROCEDURE! I'm already feeling sick about it just thinking about it and having seen that short little video didn't help at all. I'm really not excited about that 'little poke' the doctors say you will feel (as would be anyone else). Does anyone have any tips, hits or anything that can help me get past this? Make it easier to get though without the risk of seeing my last meal again or ping out like I have in the past?
